Sustainability & green aviation, cybersecurity, new space ecosystem and advanced & urban air mobility: these were the leading themes of the eighth edition of Aerospace & Defense Meetings, the only business convention organised in Italy for the aerospace industry held in Torino for the eighth time from November 30th to December 2nd 2021 at the Oval Lingotto. Since its first edition in 2008, the event has been recording remarkable figures, consolidating Piemonte, North-Western Italian region and its supply chain as a quality business destination for foreign investments and as the ultimate business platform for the aerospace industry.
1,300 participants, 625 companies, 30 countries and 8,000 b2b meetings: these are the numbers of the 2021 edition that confirmed the business convention as one of the most prestigious European events for visibility and international business agreements, a pole of attraction for multinationals, SMEs, startups looking for collaborations, new projects and international partnerships. Torino Aerospace & Defense Meeting is supported by the Piedmont Region and the Turin Chamber of Commerce and is organized by ABE-BCI Aerospace, in collaboration with Ceipiemonte and ITA - Italian Trade Agency.
The event offered Primes, OEMs, multinationals, SMEs, startups the chance to meet, seize collaboration and business opportunities and to develop new projects and international partnerships. Among the international players that joined Aerospace & Defense Meetings since the first editions there are Leonardo, industrial supporter of the event, together with the industrial partners Thales Alenia Space, Avio Aero, Collins Aerospace, Altec and Mecaer. This year Aerospace & Defense meetings also vaunts the presence of Boeing International Corporation and Airbus. As usual, the business convention foresaw a rich programme of conferences and workshops, starting with the opening international conference on November 30th dedicated to green technologies applied to aerospace. Leonardo, Avio Aero, Thales Alenia Space, Airbus, Atr, Daher, Latecoere: these are some of the multinationals that debated about ecological transition, carbon-free emissions, sustainable engines and impact forecasts between now and 2050.
On Wednesday, December 1st, the new frontiers of the space ecosystem and cybersecurity were discussed in two conference sessions especially focusing on innovative technologies, new materials, multidisciplinary projects, the latest trends in research and development, explorations, opportunities and challenges.
Among the novelties of this edition, there was a focus on December 2nd dedicated to the advanced and urban air mobility, the new frontier of urban transport, with a conference approaching the 2022 edition of VTM - Vehicle and Transportation Technology Innovation Meetings, the international business convention on the future of mobility and transportation to be held in Torino on 30-31 March 2022. Finally, an in-depth workshop on the post-Covid scenario in the aerospace sector with the representatives of Leonardo, Thales Alenia Space, Collins, Avio Aero and numerous international speakers will close the event.
