Piemonte, the region where the Italian automobile industry was born, host the first b2b event in Italy where hypercar manufacturers met top suppliers.
Dream cars in the Italian capital of the automotive industry which increasingly turns to the exclusive market of hypercars, super cars and restomods: the Hypercar Event took place on September 21st and 22nd in Torino, Italy at the Nuvola Lavazza futuristic location.
The figures of the event went beyond all expectations demonstrating how the world of sports and luxury cars is strongly rooted in Piemonte, North-West Italy, thanks to its tradition, competences and ability to foresee the evolution of the market: 69 Piemonte companies and 20 important international players represented by 57 buyers reaffirmed the region's leading role as a supplier and manufacturer in the hypercar segment. An agenda of over 400 pre-organised B2Bs was joined by luxury automotive key players: Ferrari, Italdesign, Automobili Pininfarina, Pininfarina, Lotus, Lotus Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover, Punch, MAT - Manifattura Automobili Torino, Kimera Automobili , Bermat, Casmin Group, Cecomp/Icona Design Group, Ericsson Automobile, ErreErre Fuoriserie, KW Special Projects, Automobili Maggiore, Elektron Motors, MTD Italy, ZF.
In the suggestive setting of the Nuvola Lavazza, over two days Hypercar Event brought together the best of Piemonte companies, representing a consolidated supply chain and the heart of the style and engineering of some of the most surprising sports and hypercars, symbols of Made in Italy all over the world. The talent in the production of luxury cars and the high skills of Piemonte suppliers are in fact the flagship of a unique and complete tradition: from design and engineering, through craftsmanship and manufacturing skills and the processing of interior coverings with new materials, up to technologies and solutions in the field of lightening and electrification to produce super-performing four-wheeled masterpieces.
The two-day event in Torino opened with a conference on the themes and strategies that are affecting the industry and the value chain linked to the production of high-performance vehicles. Electrification of the powertrain, integration of innovative technologies with a view to sustainability - advanced connectivity, vehicle dynamics control, advanced driving assistance systems, regulations and environmental standards: these were some of the topics discussed by Automobili Pininfarina, Cecomp/Icona Design, Kimera Automobili, MAT – Manifattura Automobili Torino, Italdesign and Pininfarina, moderated by Michele Albera, Transportation Design Area coordinator of IED Torino.
From the conference and from the accurate presentation by the consultancy firm Deloitte it emerged that at a time when the automotive market is struggling, the luxury vehicle segment is not suffering, but rather continues to grow and evolve.
The international hypercar market alone was valued at around US$15.2 billion in 2021 and is estimated to reach US$224.5 billion by 2031, growing from 2022 to 2031 at a compound annual growth rate of 31.1% (Source: Allied Market Research, Syndigate Media). Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom remain among the main producers, but new players are appearing, including Red Bull which has announced its intention to launch its own hypercar in 2025.
Europe will continue to be the dominant market, but forecasts indicate Asia Pacific as the area with the fastest growth in purchasing potential. Taste and manufacturing projections also indicate that Ultra-HNWI consumers (High Net Worth Individuals, i.e. those who earn more than 30 million dollars annually) will increasingly direct their demand towards: high performance, design and style, craftsmanship and finishes of the highest level and quality, customization, ADAS systems, intelligent connectivity and pre- and post-sales assistance services. At the same time, consideration towards sustainability will also increase, with demand increasingly oriented towards high-performance electrified vehicles: electrification and research into propulsion systems are therefore the trends that will animate luxury car manufacturers in the coming years.
To top it all, Hypercar Event also offered the exhibition of 6 supercars designed, engineered and produced in Piemonte:
