In the next 3 years investments in electric and autonomous mobility will hit a new record
Innovation in the automotive sector in Piemonte is worth almost 500 million €: this is the value of the ongoing or planned investments for the next 3 years by the industry in this sector. Piemonte, in the north-west of Italy, is the cradle of the European automotive industry and maintains its leading role also in the field of electric and autonomous mobility. Of the 200 million € already invested by companies, 83 come from public funding.
From design to production and experimentation, tomorrow's mobility is born here. The most ambitious project is that of FCA which foresees a 95 million € investment, 30 of which are public funds, for the development of hybrid vehicles. However, the entire automotive components industry – Piemonte’s gathers 35% of the entire national one - invests in the future of mobility.
From the American multinational ITT, which invested 7 million € to develop smart brake pads, to the Japanese Denso Thermal System that is working on new engine cooling and air conditioning systems with a project worth almost 11 million €. On the other hand, the new alloys for the construction of vehicles, unite the efforts of the Indian company Endurance with those of Teksid in a 9 million € project, while Fonderie 2A is committed with over 5 million €.
These initiatives will endorse significant technological and industrial developments and will further confirm Piemonte’s leading role also in the field of solutions for the mobility of the future. Other projects are in the start-up phase and involve companies such as Johnson Electric and Pierburg. Expressions of interest were also received from General Motors and Iveco, amongst others.
