Piemonte: focal point of Coca-Cola HBC's investments in Italy.
Coca-Cola HBC Italia is a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola HBC Group and is the main producer and distributor of The Coca-Cola Company branded products in the entire country. It employs about 2,000 people and operates through 6 plants, 2 of which are in Piemonte, in Roccaforte Mondovì (Cuneo) for the bottling of Lurisia and in Gaglianico (Biella) for the production of recycled plastic preforms (rPET) intended for the company's product bottling.
The project in Piemonte
Piemonte region has been a fundamental pillar for Coca-Cola for years, thanks to the shared values of attention to innovation and respect for the territory and its traditions. This synergy has enabled the multinational to make a significant contribution to the region's economic and social development. According to recent research by SDA Bocconi, in 2022 alone the resources generated and distributed in the form of salaries, purchases of goods and services, investments, taxes and contributions amount to 37 million euros. In terms of employment impact, in Piemonte Coca-Cola creates more than 3,000 jobs directly and through its supply chain (0.2 percent of total employment within the region). The SDA Bocconi data also highlight the strong link between Coca-Cola and the region, particularly through its supplier network.
One of the most representative symbols of the joint commitment to environment and innovation is the CCH CircularPET factory in Gaglianico (BI). This plant, formerly dedicated to bottling, has been transformed into a state-of-the-art center for plastic (PET) recycling. With an investment of more than 30 million euros, the largest in the history of the Coca-Cola HBC Group in terms of sustainability, the Gaglianico plant covers an area of 18,000 square meters and is capable of transforming up to 30,000 tons of PET per year into new 100% recycled bottles (rPET). This process not only reduces environmental impact, but also supports the company's bottling needs throughout Italy.
In addition, Coca-Cola operates in Piemonte, Italy, with the historic Lurisia production plant located in Roccaforte Mondovì, in the province of Cuneo. Joining the Coca-Cola family in 2019, the Lurisia brand has a long history dating back to 1940 and is known for its premium, natural, sparkling oligomineral waters and beverages inspired by traditional recipes and authentic Italian flavors, such as Chinotto, Gazzosa, Acqua Tonica, Aranciata, Aranciata Amara, Aranciata Rossa, and Limonata. In 2020, on the occasion of its 80th anniversary, a renovation plan for this production site was launched, with industrial investments of 10 million euros, aimed at further enhancing the region through future initiatives.
