It currently runs 48 active accelerator programs in 35 cities across 13 countries, relying on a global team of more than 250 employees, and aspires to invest in an unprecedented number of startups each year, enabling more capital to flow to entrepreneurs around the world.
The project in Piemonte
Techstars has been active in Piemonte since 2020 with Techstars Transformative World Torino, one of its six European accelerators, which concluded its fifth program on May 16, 2024. The first accelerator program was launched in 2020 with an investment thesis focused on "Smart Mobility," which then evolved into "Cities of the Future" (2022-2023) and now "Transformative World" (2024-2025), reflecting the mission to attract a broader spectrum of Italian and international founders to the accelerator. A total of 56 startups from 18 different countries have been accelerated in Torino, including 20 from Italy (2 from Torino), 6 from the US, 6 from the UK, 1 from Vietnam, 1 from Israel, and others from various European countries. These companies have raised over $100 million in post-program funding, generating over 400 jobs.
The success and continuity of the accelerator are the result of the collaboration with the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, the CRT Foundation and the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, partners who have helped make Torino an international hub for innovation, strengthening its position as a leading ecosystem in Italy and Europe. Thanks to the vibrant network of corporate companies in Piemonte and the presence of key players such as IVECO and Intesa San Paolo, startups have been able to develop successful PoCs (Proof of Concepts), benefiting from a highly collaborative and stimulating environment.
Moreover, being located at OGR Torino, Piemonte's main innovation hub, allows them to be at the center of regional innovation. OGR Torino not only houses Techstars' offices and program events but is also the site of the annual Demo Day, the accelerator's final event that showcases startups and engages the local community. This demonstrates how Piemonte is a forward-thinking region capable of attracting and supporting innovative initiatives of international significance.
