The Industrial evolution and strengthening of HME Brass Italy in Piemonte

HME Brass Italy is part of HME Metal Europe, the European industrial platform established following Zhejiang Hailiang Co. Ltd.'s acquisition of KME’s European brass rod and copper tube businesses in 2019. HME Metal Europe operates across the brass and copper value chain through manufacturing companies located in several European countries. The Group produces brass rods, wires and profiles, as well as copper tubes for industrial and construction applications, serving customers across international markets.
Headquartered in Serravalle Scrivia, in the Province of Alessandria, HME Brass Italy manufactures and markets semi-finished brass products, brass rods and brass alloys for sanitary fittings and a wide range of industrial applications, including faucets, valves and fittings, precision mechanical components, automotive and transportation, electrical and electronic devices, windows and doors, construction and architecture. In 2025, HME Brass Italy generated revenues of approximately €182 million and employed 181 people, a figure that increased to around 210 employees during the first quarter of 2026.

The project in Piemonte

HME Brass Italy's investment in Piemonte is part of Hailiang's long-term strategy to strengthen its industrial presence in Europe. Piemonte represents a strategic location thanks to the Serravalle Scrivia manufacturing site, the availability of a highly skilled manufacturing workforce, the region's strong industrial heritage, and its position within one of Europe's leading manufacturing and logistics hubs. These advantages enable the company to serve both European and international customers efficiently while benefiting from a well-established regional ecosystem of infrastructure, expertise, training and employment services.

Since acquiring the former KME operations in 2019, the Group has continued to develop the Serravalle Scrivia site by combining international industrial scale with local expertise. Its development strategy has focused on strengthening competitiveness, quality, productivity and sustainability through investments in manufacturing technologies, digitalization and logistics automation, improving operational efficiency while meeting evolving market demands and regulatory requirements.
In 2025, the company implemented a new integrated Warehouse Management System and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP SAP S/4HANA) and launched an investment in a continuous casting line dedicated to lead-free alloys, accelerating the transition towards more digital, automated and sustainable manufacturing processes. Sustainability is a core pillar of the company's strategy: HME Brass Italy has adopted a 2025–2050 Decarbonization Plan and developed initiatives covering carbon footprint measurement, ISO 14021-certified recycled content, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and ESG assessments. The company also guarantees recycled content exceeding 95% for its standard product range.
In 2026, the acquisition of the Serravalle Scrivia industrial site further reinforced the Group's presence in Piemonte by strengthening the stability of its manufacturing base while increasing operational autonomy and flexibility to support future growth and investment. The Serravalle Scrivia plant also plays a central role within Northern Italy's industrial and logistics network, supported by the Group's logistics facilities in Concesio, Padua and Pogno, which serve the country's main manufacturing districts.

The project in Piemonte

HME Brass Italy has established a constructive relationship with Piemonte Agency as part of its industrial development activities in the region, recognizing the value of this institutional support as an integral part of the regional ecosystem that helps international investors consolidate their presence, develop new projects, and create skilled employment opportunities in Piemonte.
Piemonte Agency supported HME by conducting preliminary analyses and screening of the available and brownfield industrial sites across Piemonte for potential new investment projects. The company also participated in aftercare meetings organized by Piemonte Agency, which provided valuable opportunities to strengthen dialogue with regional institutions. As a result of these activities, HME Brass Italy established a collaboration with Agenzia Piemonte Lavoro and local public employment services, focusing on training initiatives and the recruitment of qualified personnel to support the company's industrial and organizational growth.
