From the Czech Republic to Piemonte: KAYA Industry launches SPACE VISION, the new hub in Torino to develop the future of commercial Space

To operate in the commercial Space sector, the Czech company KAYA Industry has established SPACE VISION in Torino, the new entity that will set alongside the Space Division of BD SENSORS - another company within the KAYA Industry group - which will continue to operate in the institutional space segment. The establishment of SPACE VISION marks the final step in a process spanning more than two years, driven by an awareness of the evolving nature of space activities and the growing importance of the commercial sector. The investment reflects the intention to create a new organization dedicated exclusively to this field, recognizing that both the present - and even more so the future - of space activities will increasingly be shaped by private and commercial dynamics

After evaluating several options in France and Germany, the final choice fell on Italy, precisely on Torino. “We decided to invest in Italy, and in Torino in particular, as it is Italy’s industrial capital for space and a region where new and important initiatives in the Space Economy are emerging; Torino is already working, through its major companies, on large private Space programmes” says Peter Debnar, Sole Director of KAYA Industry.

With a team of engineers and technicians and the technological legacy of BD SENSORS, which has been active in the space sector since 1993, SPACE VISION will develop in Torino activities in design, integration and testing, as well as research and development for new commercial space programmes. In its initial phase, SPACE VISION’s flagship products will be avionics equipment, however, investments are also underway in propulsion systems and supercapacitor batteries, with no exclusion of future expansion into space systems and missions.
The main headquarters is shared with Space Industries, but a second operational site is planned, which will host around thirty employees by 2030 to support strategic challenges. SPACE VISION has indeed set itself ambitious innovation and technological development goals, aiming to define new approaches to the future vision of space and to attract customers interested in new equipment, satellites, and space missions, through solutions that are more efficient in terms of both innovation and cost.

Piemonte Agency supported the company in identifying the operational site, in the incorporation process by providing contacts with legal and accounting experts, and in building connections with local partners such as the Politecnico di Torino and key industry players. It also assisted in the recruitment of qualified personnel through the Higher Technical Institute for Aerospace and Mechatronics.
