BAIC
BAIC chooses Piemonte to develop its technologies for sustainable agriculture.
BAIC is a company, founded in Brazil, committed to minimising the environmental impact in agriculture through bio-inputs, natural solutions obtained through biotechnologies that favour the optimisation of resources, increase production and reduce the use of harmful agents. During its expansion beyond the Brazilian region, the company also opened sites in Europe and now employs over one hundred employees.
The project in Piemonte
In 2023, BAIC signed a collaboration with the University of Torino that will allow it to relocate its R&D department to the new 'Città della Scienza e dell’Ambiente (City of Science and Environment)' within the Butterfly Area of Grugliasco. It is precisely the fertile environment for innovation typical of Piemonte that drove BAIC to settle in the province of Torino so as to develop its technology with increasingly cutting-edge resources and equipment.
The region's renowned agricultural landscape also strongly contributed to the choice: with 36% of the land dedicated to agricultural production, more than 420 certifications including PDOs, PGIs and PATs, and a growing organic and eco-friendly footprint among the companies, Piemonte can offer BAIC the opportunity to get closer to the global innovation scene, while remaining one step closer to the fields. In the coming years, BAIC plans to open production centres in Europe and is considering Piemonte for the Italian site.
Piemonte Agency's support
The entire set-up process in Piemonte was facilitated by Ceipiemonte's comprehensive and customised assistance. The precious support consisted in providing an overview of the thriving regional ecosystem for agriculture and information about projects supporting business development abroad, regional incentives to support the investment, how to set up the company in Italy and find qualified personnel.
