The project in Piemonte

WSP’s operations in Italy originated in Piemonte, a region selected for its highly qualified ecosystem and strong engineering tradition, fostered by the presence of the Politecnico di Torino, an internationally recognized center of excellence. Within this favorable context, Geoanalysis was established in Torino in 1978 as a geotechnical consulting firm—marking the foundation of what would later become WSP Italia.

Over the years, Piemonte has proven to be a strategic location for the company’s growth. In 1991, Geoanalysis joined the international group Golder, which identified the region as an ideal hub to attract highly specialized talent and develop expertise in the environmental, mining, and infrastructure sectors. This was followed by the acquisitions of Geoter (1996) and Tecnova (2018), the expansion of services into key areas such as renewable energy, industrial water, and decommissioning, and the opening of additional operational offices.

In 2021, WSP acquired the Golder Group, marking a new phase of expansion and strengthening its presence in Italy. In 2023, the company officially became WSP Italia, further expanding its capabilities through the integration of Wood’s Environment & Infrastructure Services division. In 2024, the incorporation of BG Ingénieurs Conseils SA, including its Torino office, was completed.

Today, Piemonte remains a strategic hub for WSP Italia, which has achieved 36% growth in both staff and revenue compared to 2022 and continues to lead the way in the sustainable transformation of water, energy, digital, and environmental sectors.
