Piemonte, hub of ETAS software innovation for the vehicles of the future

Founded in Germany in 1994 and part of the Bosch Group, ETAS GmbH is now a global player with 3,000 employees across 13 countries and a revenue of €599 million in 2024. The company supports OEMs and suppliers in the transition to Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), helping them manage increasing complexity, accelerate development cycles, and ensure safety and security compliance.

Its portfolio includes hardware and software tools for data collection and analysis, cloud solutions for diagnostics and cybersecurity, and software platforms that enable the next generation of control units and onboard computers. This combination of expertise and technology makes ETAS a key partner for the international automotive industry.

The project in Piemonte

ETAS’ decision to establish its Italian operations in Piemonte in 2013 was a natural convergence between the company’s technological excellence and the region’s industrial DNA - a historic automotive hub that is now a laboratory for innovation. Here, ETAS created a center of competence combining product development, global application services, and high-value engineering, supported by prestigious technical institutions and a solid industrial network.

In just over a decade, the Italian branch has grown into a reference point for automakers, component suppliers, ECU manufacturers, and engineering service providers, turning mobility challenges into opportunities for progress. In 2024, with the opening of a second office in Emilia-Romagna and approximately 100 professionals employed across its locations in Italy, ETAS confirmed its growth trajectory, reaching a revenue of €15 million, in addition to the income generated as a global development center.

The Piemonte experience demonstrates how a solid and interconnected ecosystem can attract and maximize high-profile international projects, reinforcing the region’s role as a key hub for the mobility of the future.
